Cart updating problem
Cart doesn't update when you change the donation amount. If I want to give $0 is not an option.

Hi Cody,
Thanks for writing in. I think I understand the issue at hand, but if I fail to fully address anything, let me know.
Unless there's a browser-specific bug, once you add a student to your cart, you should be able to select $25, $50, $100, or the remaining loan amount as your loan size and it should refresh automatically. Next to that dropdown menu of loan amounts is an "X" button that should allow you to remove a loan from your cart if need be rather than changing the amount to $0. If this is not displaying, or the dropdown menu is not present in your cart (or it's not refreshing properly), please let me know what web browser you're using, as well as the version (ex: Firefox 5, Internet Explorer 7, Google Chrome, etc.).
The option to fill in your own amount rather than the $25, $50, $100 choices is available before you add the student to your cart on the student profile page.
Again, please let me know if any of this is unclear!
Many thanks,
Sophie -

I don't know if this is the same problem as the other person, but when I try to update the loan or donation amount, I get the following error: "Sorry, we had a problem updating your cart. Try again?" I cannot change either amount. I am using Safari 5.1.1 on Mac OS 10.7.2.

I'm having a very similar problem:
Every time I try to set the donation to Vittana amount to $0, I get an error that there's been an error updating my cart. I'm using up-to-date versions of Chrome broswer and IE9, and getting the same result from each. Can you let me know when this is fixed, or if there's some other way to opt-out of donating to Vittana? I want my donations to go to students, not the organization. -
-
Not sure why, but when I set the donation to 0%, button says refreshing, but the donation amount is $0.
When I click on the button, it automatically donate a percentage to Vittana instead of $0 (at least it send the correct money to the student).
Not to be rude or complain about the donation, but seriously, it should not go through if the page is not showing the correct amount!
I see this as a potentially big issue. Please do fix it.
NOTE FOR REP: THIS IS ABOUT THE DONATION, NOT THE LOAN PART. -

I really don't think this is a browser issue. There are too many different browsers being used by different people for that to be likely. I have used Safari and Firefox, and have the same problem.
Steven is right, this is a big issue, and should be resolved quickly. -

Hi all,
Thank you so much for alerting us of the errors on the cart page. We pushed a bunch of changes to the site in the last few days, and it looks as though a bug in the system was giving all of you quite the run-around. Our apologies for the inconvenience to you, as well as compromising your user experience. Definitely not what we're shooting for when we make changes! :)
Our web team has been working on it all morning, and we just pushed the changes live to the site that should take care of the cart-related issues. For whatever reason, the donation amount was not updating properly, and the changes made this morning should take care of that going forward.
Again, my apologies for the mix-up, and if anyone has further questions, would like changes made to loan amounts, or donations refunded, please do contact me at questions@vittana.org.
Thanks, lending team! For your support of Vittana students, and for alerting us of the problem.
Best regards,

Having this problem on internet explorer (which I am only using because lend now won't work on Chrome). This is making it really hard for me to make my loan.

Hi there,
Thanks for getting in touch--although I'm sorry to hear that you were having trouble! It looks like you've already made your loan on the 12th (thank you for that, by the way!), but I wanted to double check that those amounts were as you intended. Did your cart go through as you intended? If not, I'm happy to make changes where necessary.
Also, I've notified our web team, and we're still looking into the "lend now" and cart updating issues--unfortunately, we've been unable to duplicate your experience with both of those browsers. What versions of Internet Explorer and Chrome are you using?
Also, could you be specific as to what was not updating on the cart? (Was it a matter of removing/adding a student, not wanting to tack on a donation, group attribution, etc.) Once you've filled me in, I'll be able to look into this a little more deeply.
My apologies for the barrage of questions, but this will allow us to make sure this doesn't happen again! Many thanks again for writing in, and for your support of Vittana students. :)
All the best to you,
Sophie -

I am having this same problem today (one month later that these posts). If I can't order these gift certificates by tomorrow I will have to shop elsewhere.
I am trying to buy two gift certificates. I tried to change the optional extra donation amount to $0 and click continue. I can't get past the cart screen. I see no indication that the page is trying to load. I have used IE, Chrome, and Firefox. -

Hi there,
Uh-oh--frustrating, indeed. Is it just not loading at all? Or are you getting an error message? I just tried in Firefox, and couldn't reproduce the issue. It might be a matter of internet connection, but since I imagine you'd like to make the purchase this evening, I'm happy to complete the transaction for you.
Please contact me questions@vittana.org to follow up with the necessary information, and I'll see if I can't get things to process on my end.
Thanks so much for writing in, and again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
All the best to you, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I've been trying to relend my credit for more than 4 months now. This problem STILL exists. Although an optional donation of $0 is a choice in the drop-down menu, when you use that, it doesn't work and just sits there refreshing.
Your website defaults to 15%. If I had an option for 10% of my loan that's what I would usually make. However, I resent being forced to choose 15% to make my relending go through.
So I continue to sit here with credits that I cannot relend until this is fixed.
This is NOT a browser issue as it's been reported by too many people for too long now. -

Hi Stephanie,
Thanks so much for getting in touch! I've responded to you via email as well, and I'd love to connect with you further if you're willing to.
We appreciate your patience with us as we work on this issue, but the cart will be completely overhauled during the second week of March, with an entirely editable field for optional donations.
As for the constant "refreshing" I'm not quite sure what's going on there, but if you'll respond to the questions asked in my email, I'll better be able to understand the issue.
Thanks again for writing in, and I'm looking forward to your reply via email.
Best regards,

Here it is April 19, 2012, and the cart still adds a donation to Vittana when checking out, even though I clicked into the box and reset the amount to zero before I checked out. I wrote you an individual email a month ago and got no response. I've done that again today, and asked for a refund of the "optional" donation that your website added automatically.
If I already donated 15% of my money when making an initial loan, and today I am recycling credits from repayments, I don't see why you insist that I must give another 15% of the funds when recycling credits.
I am using Firefox 11 on WinXP. But people on all kinds of browsers have been having this issue for months, according to the history above. Please get someone working on the problem who actually knows how to fix it, will you? -

Hi Amy,
Thanks so much for writing in, although I'm sorry to hear that you're encountering problems during check-out. Our priority is to make the process as smooth as possible, and the intention is certainly not to force a donation, so I appreciate your patience!
In looking back through our system, however, I'm having a difficult time pulling up your original email. If that's our system somehow missing your request, this is a really big deal (responding in a timely manner is of the utmost importance to us, and I do apologize that you've had a bad experience!). Can you please forward the original email sent for our records if you still have it in your sent mail? Gmail should probably have a record from one month ago.
To address the email you sent this morning: I'm refunding your $3 now, and will notify you via email as soon as that process has completed. It will show up in your account as Vittana credit.
We've been having a difficult time reproducing the cart updating issue on our end (I personally use Firefox 11, too), and for users that have written in with the same problem, the most common fix was to simply have individuals hit "enter" or "tab" after changing the dollar amount in the donation box. If you've already tried this, please notify me asap. I've sent you an email as well with additional contact information.
Thanks so much again for reaching out, and I look forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Sophie -
